Yeah, definitely -- but he doesn't make it clear in the song that that's where they are (it would be kind of weird for him to be grinding on someone else's girl in the VIP room, wouldn't it? Or are VIP rooms bigger than I would assume, having never been in one myself?). What he's done is create a song that seems to sonically exist naturally in the semi-private VIP room. This isn't the same as "Single Ladies," which only gets its trio from the specificity of the lyrics (which aren't necessarily the part of the song anyone really notices) but doesn't claim to be very VIP-y.

Just as popular as of c. two years ago, though, was the sparsely populated strip club, same oddly spare vibe but very different reasoning behind it. "Sexy Can I" et al.

Also, key distinction between the "private club" and the VIP is that there are literally no people in this space except for the protagonists. It's not just a VIP, it's a kind of extreme abstraction of a VIP room in a club.

The-Dream's songs never do end, in that the story never ends: lines from one keep reappearing in others, all relationships are in a state of negotiation and renegotiation, so any song by The-Dream can be a rethinking of any other. "Ditch That" could be a sequel to "I Luv Your Girl," same club but a different night and this time addressed to the girl, and now - this time - you know he's got her... until say the middle of Love Vs. Money when everything explodes and the fallout might be that she's back with the first guy.

After I posted this I started wondering whether or not "wife beater with the denim" might refer to a denim top, but I think "wife beater and jeans" makes more sense. I did fail to mention the "she keep the heels on high" line, in part because I usually hear it as "keep the males on high." Still, in my mind I can't really see their feet, just torsos. There are lots of subtle gestures and looks in the song.
